OUR HISTORY
Viticulture has run in our family’s veins for several generations. It was first as simple winegrowers, after the Second World War, that our grandparents began to make a living from the vine by selling their harvests (in the form of grapes or wines) to the Champagne Houses.
Where Names Unite
It was in the late 1960s, with the creation of the cooperative, that they began selling Champagne bottles directly. Family and friends then made up the first clientele of the Parmantier-Guerlet and Rigaut-Bardoux Champagnes. The tradition at the time was to combine the surnames of the spouses to establish one’s brand.
It is on these foundations that, in 1972, Champagne Parmantier-Rigaut came into being, led then by Gérard Parmantier and Christiane Rigaut. Today, their children, Olivier and Delphine, have taken over the reins of the estate and handle the Vineyard and Administration sides respectively. They have recently been joined by Charles, Olivier’s son, who continues the Cellar work with the help of his grandfather.
A Premier Cru Terroir
Our vineyard flourishes across two villages of the Petite Montagne de Reims: Chamery and Écueil, both classified as Premier Cru. On soils of clay and sand at the surface and chalk in the subsoil, we cultivate the three royal grape varieties of Champagne. Meunier is dominant here (50%), complemented in equal parts by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. All our plots are farmed sustainably, with the utmost respect for our environment.
Our Winemaking
Our estate came into its own in 1995 with the construction of our traditional press house and cellar. This independence allows us to master every stage: from pressing to blending. It is this attention to detail that enables us to craft cuvées of character and great quality, year after year.
